Almost

This song appears to be mainly various chord progressions. Very pleasant chord progressions, with nice tone, but not exactly enough to reach the status of a 'song'.
Are you using Garageband instruments?
I think perhaps with some decent software and longer more varied songs you could make some very nice music. Music software does not need to be expensive, in my experience, as long as you are willing to buy older stuff off Ebay and such.
Anyway, good luck, keep working hard.

I'm just using the loops in Garageband. I can't afford any real programs. Acid is at least $200 and Logic is $600.

Very nice me hearty!

Ear-catching intro.
Extremely funky body.
Good use of silence.
Very satisfying.

I would love to know how you did those cymbals.
Please respond if it doesn't involve some fancy plug -in.

My only problem with this song is that it feels more like a demo of different tones rather than a progressing song.

The-Objekt responds:

thank you for the review. i use fl studio 5 produce edition (i got it off this one torrent) and one of the new features is a new plug-in called fpc that has live recorded drum kicks, hats, crashes, etc. and it comes with a folder that contains just the wavs. Well if you need anymore help e-mail me at popkorn1340@yahoo.com. thank you for this review im glad there are people out there apppreciating my music

oh yeah check out my other songs too, thanks a million -popkorn

Why the ugly name?

The drums are functional and nice, particularly the bongos in the latter half of the song.
The guitar starts off a little hesitantly but once the harmony begins things progress nicely.
Seems like the melody guitar is a little quiet and indistinct, if it is the melody then make sure that the listener can tell it is the melody.
The synthesizers add a pleasant second level to the song just as it is beginning to get repetitive. And also justify you putting this song in the ambient section, almost.
Good job, I would say keep it up, but you appear to be prolific enough without such encouragement.

EyeWhereMooMoos responds:

I try to take any sort of feedback and turn it into encouragement, so thanks. George, the guy who wrote this song with me, thinks the same about the beginning. He almost pukes every time he hears it. Thanks again.

Grunge man!

The greatest eh?
Surprisingly good recording quality. I presume that this is just an un-doctored live recording?
The entire song sounds like one big introduction, simplicity is a virtue, but this leaves you wanting more.
On the other hand, both musicians are of outstanding quality, really, quite outstanding guitar and drumanship. I expect some great stuff from you guys.

WanderingWarrior89 responds:

Thanx very much to all those who have downloaded and reviewed the song! There will be more stuff soon, including a live piece! But if you have such a huge craving for the centars, then check out www.geocities.com/thecentars you can buy a swan!

A bountiful surprise!

Wow!
The drums at the beginning didn't give me high hopes, but what an introduction!
Beautiful upbeat drums, subtle countermelody, this is everything I wish I could do!
Ooh! And you break it down!
You really need to give me some words of wisdom!

Goldy2010 responds:

Thank you very much for your review.

Lovely

Your guitar playing is delightful enough.
I very much enjoy your voice.
The chorus/instrumental is very engaging.
You might want to try and make your backing instruments as clear as your voice, perhaps increase the sampling rate?
Yeah, besides the clarity issue you seem to be quite a veritable Saul Williams, don't know why people keep giving you bad scores, you won't be getting one from me.

CSSS666 responds:

wow, thanks alot man. i don;t know much about recording... as you might-can tell... drew's the vocalist/poet... and he loves the saul williams comparison! my guitar engaging? sweet... our more recent stuff has been more playful, but definately check back and review often!

Trent Reznor has gone for a wizz

I very nice attention-grabbing beginning.
Drums don't initially seem forceful enough to complement the 'guitar'.
Bass drum sounds a bit generic.
I appreciate how the guitar loop is evolving, but it does sound a little bit too much like a loop to me.
With a few more instruments this song could be very good. Currently it is a nice guitar solo with decent drums.

Albino-Donkey responds:

Thanks for reviewing. I always appreciate it when someone reviews my songs to tell me what I did wrong and how I can improve. I'm not very good with drums yet (unless I make them all random like with Drumbass), but I'm hoping to get better at it.

In the direction of King Missile

Starts simply, which is not necessarily bad.
Drum beat starts a little out of sync.
Vocals are pretty good, and humorous.
Transitions between guitars are a little rough.
Recording quality is problematic.

FourStar responds:

i don't recall using drums in this sir

Atmosphere

The sound quality is murky, which isn't as bad as all that because it adds to the atmosphere.
It is very nice to listen to, I particularly like the bass plucking in the background.
I am undecided as to whether it was a good idea to have the piano playing the vocal notes rather than the guitar harmony, it kind of makes it sound like Kurt's voice has been replaced by a piano.
Definately the best part of the song is the vectors, and of course the originality of making a Nirvana tribute that doesn't stink of bad Nirvana copycats.

ImANegativeCreep responds:

The sound quality is murky?
Damn, I really should have put up the high quality one.
[Stupid Dial-Up]

And the vocals are strings and not pianos if I'm correct.

Well, thanks for the good/detailed review =)
